Austin, TX – The Live Music Capital Of The World
Austin, Texas, has more live music venues than any place else in the world. The music covers all types of music and the city is extremely active in promoting the 220 different venues.
One of the most famous streets in America is Ausmusic, Sixth Street. The many bars and restaurants located along this street are excellent locations for various artists. Many musicians have started their careers with success on Sixth Street.
The city hosts five music events each year, mostly during the summer. At the city hall, each summer budding musicians enjoy playing free concerts. During Christmas, the city’s park and recreation department features live music with its Trail of Lights. The city also hosts free blues shows at Zilker Park during the summer. The city is also home to two significant and several minor music festivals. The first of these festivals is South by Southwest, which happens each year in March features six days of live music at the Convention Center. The city is also home to Austin City Limits Music Festival occurs each year in September.
Live music is extremely important to the residents of Austin. So important, that each city council meeting starts with live music. The airport also has three different venues for musicians. Austin Energy even gives a rebate to that offer music.
